  • HM Customs Closure

    HM Customs & Immigration would like to advise the public they will be closed on Tuesday 12 November 2024 from 08:30 to 11:00. During this closure only consolidated cargo and the cashier services will be closed until 11:00, after which time normal operations will resume. 

    HM Customs & Immigration would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

  • Arrival of MV Karoline

    The MV Karoline is scheduled to arrive at James Bay at 06:00 on Saturday 9 November 2024. Weather permitting the vessel will dock alongside Rupert’s Jetty and cargo operations will commence as soon as practicable.

    The public are therefore advised that the Port of Jamestown and whole of lower Rupert’s including the beach area, will be closed from 06:00 on Saturday 9November 2024, until all cargo operations are completed.

    These areas will be strictly prohibited and access will be limited to those who have made prior arrangements with St Helena Port Control.

    Boat owners and operators are advised that mooring on the ‘span’ mooring rope near the landing steps at the Jamestown Wharf is prohibited for the duration of cargo operations.

  • ENRP Asset Licenses

    The Environmental Natural Resources and Planning (ENRP) Portfolio wishes to advise tenants that licences for their agriculture assets for the period 2024-2025 will be available for signing from Monday 11 November to Monday 9 December 2024 from 09:00 to 15:30

    No licences will be sent out, therefore all tenants must visit the ENRP Office at Scotland to sign their licence.

  • EDIP Side Path Road Works Update

    The Highways Authority has given approval for a further one week closure of Side Path Road, therefore it is now planned to reopen Side Path on Thursday 14 November and not Thursday 7 November 2024.

    The reason for the extended closure is to allow Isaac’s Contractors to complete additional works which has been added to the project.

    These works form part of rehabilitation works for the R2 Road Project through the Economic Development Investment Programme (EDIP).

    Field Road will remain closed until further notice.

  • Incident at Horse Point Landfill Site

    St Helena Government (SHG) confirms an incident occurred at the Horse Point Landfill Site on the evening of Tuesday 5 November 2024.

    SHG has initiated emergency response procedures, prioritising public and personnel safety. We are coordinating with relevant authorities to protect the environment and resolve the situation.

    Whilst the site will remain open at this time, access to areas within the lower site will be restricted for public safety until further notice, and the public should not congregate to spectate.Further updates will be provided as soon as possible.

  • Remembrance Sunday Service

    ROAD AND PARKING SPACES CLOSURE

    The Highways Authority has given approval for the road from The Cenotaph to Donny’s Place at the Seafront, and five parking spaces in front of the Court House, Jamestown, to be closed from 3am on the morning of Sunday, 10 November 2024, in order for the Remembrance Sunday Service and ceremony to take place.

    The Highways Authority has also given approval for the road from the Canister to the Seafront to be closed from 10:45 for 10 minutes on the same day to allow the Uniformed Contingents to march.  

    Appropriate signages will be in place and the public is thanked in advance for their cooperation.

  • Economic Development Investment Programme

    MIDDLE LANDING STEPS

    The Programme Management Office would like to advise the public that the Middle Landing Steps will be closed from Monday 04 November to Wednesday 06 November 2024, to undertake some further minor works. Once works are completed the Middle Landing Steps will be reopened to the public.

  • Remembrance Sunday 2024

    Remembrance Sunday falls on 10 November 2024. On that day The Right Reverend Lord Bishop of St Helena Dale Bowers will conduct a Divine Service at the Cenotaph. His Excellency the Governor will be attendance.  

    All persons wishing to take part in the Divine Service are asked to assemble at the Cenotaph by no later than 10.40 am.

    It is on this day that we not only remember with gratitude those persons who fought and lost their lives in the violence of war but we also honour and pay tribute to those who served and survived these Wars.

    A special place will be reserved at the Cenotaph for serving and ex-personnel as well as those who served on the old RMS St Helena during the 1982 Falklands War and it is hoped that many will attend the service.

    There will be a First Aid Station on the deck of Donny’s Place and those participating

    In the parade including spectators are welcome to make use of these facilities if required. You are also reminded to stay hydrated and drink plenty of water before and during the Service.
