  • Property Department Office Closure

    The Property Department of the Economic Development Portfolio wish to advise customers and members of the public that the department will be closed for a staff away-day on Friday 5 July 2024. This will affect the following services:

    • The Crown Estates Department
    • Land Registry services
    • The Housing Management Office

    Building maintenance and homelessness reports can still be made to the reception at Essex House on 22270, where you will be asked to leave your contact details for your concerns to be followed up by our team. 

    Normal business will resume on Monday 8 July 2024.

  • Tourist Office Closure

    The Tourist Office will be closed on Friday 5 July 2024 for staff training.  Normal opening hours will resume on Saturday 6 July.

  • Road Closure – Junction Near St Paul’s Cathedral to Scotland Roundabout

    The Highways Authority has given approval to close the road from the junction near St Paul’s Cathedral to Scotland roundabout from Monday 8 July to Wednesday 31 July 2024 from 09:00 to 15:00.

    The purpose of the closure is to enable the Roads Section to continue slurry works on this route with the Minimac paver.

    Please note that this road will only be closed if weather conditions are favourable to carry out these works. If the weather is not favourable, the road will remain open as normal.

    Signage will be in place and the diversion will be via Sunny Side Road. Only emergency services and returning residents within this route will be granted access, delays will be expected.

  • Economic Development Investment Programme

    Middle Landing Steps

    The Programme Management Office is pleased to advise that the refurbishment works undertaken by Ambledale Workshop Ltd, on the Middle Landing Steps is now completed and the area is now open to the public.

    The project was approved for funding under the UK funded Economic Development Investment Programme (EDIP) – Micro Project, in partnership with the FCDO.

    The public are thanked for their cooperation during these works and thanks are also extended to Ambledale Workshop for a job well done. 

  • Immigration Office Closure

    The Immigration Section of the Safety, Security and Home Affairs Portfolio will be closed for business on Wednesday 3 July 2024. Normal business will resume on Thursday 4 July 2024.

  • Programme Management Office Drop-In Session

    Proposed Disabled Access at the Education Learning Centre and Proposed Railing System Along the High Risk Area of the Jamestown Run

    The Programme Management Office (PMO) will hold a public consultation drop-in session on the works that are being proposed to:

    • Allow disabled access to the Education Leaning Centre (ELC)
    • Reduce the safety risk along the high risk area identified at the Jamestown Run 

    The drop-in session will take place on Friday 5 July 2024, between 10:00 and 14:00 in The Market, Jamestown. 

    Both projects have been approved for funding under the UK funded Economic Development Investment Programme (EDIP) – Micro Project Budget 2024/25, in partnership with the FCDO.

    Members of the public are encouraged to attend and view the plans. We look forward to seeing you.

    The vehicles will be sold on an ‘as is, where is’ basis. Viewing is available at the FIP Site Office, Upper Rupert’s Valley, on Saturday 06 July 2024 between 10:00 and 13:00. Tender forms will be available on-site.

    All tenders must be submitted in a plain sealed envelope marked “Tender Reference SHG FIP (EX BASIL READ) Vehicles”, and placed in the Tender Box at Essex House by no later than 15:30 on Tuesday 09 July 2024.

  • Emergency Dental Clinic Closure

    The Emergency Dental Clinic, which is normally open to the public between 08:30 and 09:30 every week day, will be closed tomorrow, Thursday 27 and Friday 28 June 2024.

    Persons experiencing a dental emergency during this time are therefore asked to call Hospital Reception by telephone on 22500, to make an appointment. 

    Any inconvenience caused is very much regretted.

  • Restricted Access to Jamestown Wharf and Lower Rupert’s

    Due to the arrival of MV Unicloud, the public are advised that the Jamestown Wharf and the whole of lower Rupert’s, including the beach, will be closed to members of the public from 07:00 on Sunday 23 June 2024, until all cargo operations have been completed.

    Access to these areas will be strictly prohibited and is limited only to those who have made prior arrangements with Port Control.

    Port Control would like to thank the public in advance for their understanding and cooperation.

  • Fisheries Workshop – A Look into the Lives of Commonly Caught Species in St Helena

    The Marine and Fisheries Conservation Section are hosting an educational fisheries workshop and are inviting the local fishing community to attend. The workshop will be held at Anne’s Place from 16:30 to 20:30 on Wednesday 10 July 2024.

    The workshop will focus on understanding the diets, habitats, movements, life history, reproduction, and scientific research related to various marine species. Complimentary species information packets, lobster calipers, and tape measures will be available to attendees.

    Presentations throughout the event will cover, baitfish, pelagics, semi-pelagics, groundfish, lobsters and billfish and sharks.
