  • Select Committee 1 – Topic For Scrutiny

    Members of the public are hereby notified that Select Committee 1 has selected Farming Support, Land Use Review and Poultry Production (Day Old Chicks / Incubation Unit) as their second topic for scrutiny. This topic sits under the Environment, Natural Resources and Planning Portfolio.

    Members of the public are invited to submit information which may assist with this inquiry.   • Restricted Access to Jamestown Wharf – Friday 19 January 2024

    The cruise ship MV Seven Seas Voyager is scheduled to visit St Helena between 10:00 and 19:00 on Friday 19 January 2024.

    Access to the Jamestown Wharf will be strictly prohibited and is limited to authorised personnel only, who have made prior arrangements with Port Control.

    The public are also advised that while this vessel is in port, a 200m exclusion zone must be adhered to by all marine traffic.

  • Further Unsettled Sea Conditions Expected

    St Helena is expected to experience a continued north westerly swell from Monday 15 January 2024 through to Friday 19 January 2024. This is likely to cause some unsettled sea conditions in James Bay and Rupert’s Bay.

    The public are asked to take caution when accessing the sea front area in Jamestown. To avoid damage to vehicles, drivers are advised to take care when parking near the safety rails.

    The same conditions are expected in Rupert’s Bay and the public are advised to take care in the beach, shears and wharf areas.

    Port Control will be monitoring sea conditions and may restrict access to the sea front and Jamestown Wharf if conditions worsen.

  • Tourism Office Extended Opening Hours

    From Saturday 13 January 2024, the Tourist Office at the Canister, Jamestown, will be operating extended opening hours for walk-ins.

    Opening hours for the Tourist Office are as follows:

    Mondays – Fridays08:30 – 16:00
    Saturdays08:30 – 12:00

  • Education Portfolio Office Closure

    The Education Learning Centre, St Helena Community College, the Public Library Service, and Career Access St Helena will close from 11:45 and will reopen at 14:30 on Thursday 11January 2024. This closure is to allow staff to attend a function.

    The Education, Skills and Employment Portfolio thanks the public for their understanding and apologises for any inconvenience this may cause.

  • Shy Road Closure – 16 And 17 January

    The Highways Authority has given approval for Shy Road to be closed to pedestrian and vehicular traffic from 09:00 to 15:00 on Tuesday 16 January and Wednesday 17 January 2024.

    This closure is to allow the Roads Section to carry out repairs to the retaining wall on Shy Road.

    During this closure, appropriate signage will be in place and only emergency services will be granted access.

    The Roads Section thank the public in advance for their continued understanding and cooperation.

  • HM Customs Reduced Opening Times

    HM Customs will be operating a reduced service today, Tuesday 9 January 2024, until 15:00. During this time HM Customs will be processing the release of merchant cargo only. Normal opening hours will resume on Wednesday 10 January 2024 between 09:00 and 15:00.

    HM Customs apologises for any inconvenience this may cause. The public are thanked in advance for their understanding and cooperation.

  • White Gate Road Closure

    The Roads Section will be carrying out slurry works on the road at White Gate, opposite the bus shelter, in St Paul’s from 09:00 to 15:00 on Wednesday 10 January 2024. During this time, White Gate will be closed to pedestrians and vehicular traffic. However, access to Plantation House and associated area can be gained via Red Gate or Sapper Way. Appropriate signage will be in place.
