  • Arrival of the Maria Da Paz

    The Maria Da Paz is scheduled to arrive at St Helena at 6pm this evening, Friday 20 October 2023, and will dock alongside Rupert’s Jetty at 6.30am tomorrow, Saturday 21 October 2023. Following this cargo operations should commence.

    The public are therefore advised that the Jamestown Wharf and the whole of lower Ruperts, including the beach area, will be closed to the public from 6am on Saturday 21 October, until cargo operations have completed. These areas will be strictly prohibited and access will be limited to only those who have made prior arrangements and have been given authorisation by Port Control.

    Boat owners and operators are advised that mooring on the ‘span’ mooring rope near the landing steps at the Jamestown Wharf is prohibited for the duration of cargo operations.

  • Side Path Road Non-Closure Days

    As part of the ongoing Field Road construction works, Side Path Road has been closed to pedestrian and vehicular traffic from 9 October 2023 between 9am and 4pm, from Mondays to Saturdays. This closure is planned to continue until 18 November 2023, except for scheduled cruise ship visits.

    In accordance with the current cruise ship schedule, Side Path Road will be open to pedestrian and vehicular traffic on the following days:

    • Monday, 23 October
    • Tuesday, 24 October
    • Wednesday, 25 October.

    Side Path Road will then be closed again from Thursday 26 October, between 9am and 4pm, Mondays to Saturdays, until 18 November 2023.

  • Jamestown Wharf Closure

    The public are advised that the Jamestown Wharf will be closed from 8.30am to 4pm tomorrow, Friday 20 October 2023. This closure is to allow Port Control to continue operations in preparation for the arrival of the MV Maria Da Paz. Any inconvenience caused is regretted and we thank the public and wharf users in advance for their continued cooperation.

  • Education, Skills And Employment Portfolio – Office Closure

    The public are advised of the following closures for Monday 30 October 2023. This closure is to allow staff to participate in IT training.

    Career Access St Helena will close from 12:30 to 16:00.

    The Public Library will close from 12:30 to 16:00, reopening from 16:00 to 17:00.

    Normal business hours will resume on Tuesday 31 October 2023.

  • My Liver and Me’ Health Talks – Additional Session

    The Island’s Dietitian, Sarah Mattinson, will be continuing the series of health talks in October with a session called ‘My Liver and Me’. The talk will be focused on a condition known as ‘fatty liver’.

    Non-alcoholic liver disease or ‘fatty liver’ is caused by too much fat around the liver and is closely related to type 2 diabetes, heart disease and being overweight. If left untreated, further damage can happen which can then lead to liver cancer or liver failure.

    During the daytime sessions there will be the opportunity to have a health check of you weight, height, body mass index, waist circumference and blood pressure. This will be available during the first 30 minutes of the sessions. Sarah will then give a short talk about how to reverse or halt further damage to your liver through some simple lifestyle changes.

  • Controlled Rock Removal – Thursday 26 October

    The Rock Guards will carry out a controlled rock removal on the hillside above Side Path Road on Thursday 26 October 2023.

    As an additional safety measure, the Highways Authority has given approval for the road from Seales Corner to the Brow and the car park area adjacent to Carnarvon Court in Jamestown to be closed. This section of road will be closed to vehicular traffic and pedestrians between 9am and 12noon on Thursday 26 October 2023.

    No evacuation will be required during this operation and residents and workers within the affected area will still be granted access, but are advised to approach the area with caution. Road closure signage and marshals will be in place to direct pedestrians during this time.

This is to allow Port Control to undertake operations in preparation of the arrival of the MV Maria Da Paz. Any inconvenience is regretted and we thank the public and wharf users in advance.

  • HM Customs Closure

    HM Customs will be closed for business on Wednesday 18 October 2023 and Thursday 19 October 2023. 

    Normal operations will resume at the Jamestown wharf on Friday 20 October from 09:00 to 15:00.

    Any inconvenience caused is regretted and HM Customs thanks the public for their support and cooperation.

  • HM Customs Closure

    HM Customs advise that they will be closed tomorrow, Friday 13 October 2023. This closure is to allow officers to attend the airport for the rescheduled Airlink flight. If any further delays are experienced to this flight, HM Customs may open for a limited period during the day.

    Normal operations will resume at the Jamestown Wharf on Monday 16 October 2023, with opening hours from 9am to 3pm.

    HM Customs apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. The public are thanked in advance for their understanding and cooperation.

  • Police Appeal For Information – Dwelling Burglaries in Lemon Tree Gut Area

    The Royal Saint Helena Police are investigating two burglaries which occurred at a dwelling in the Lemon Tree Gut area of St Paul’s. These occurred between 7am and 5pm on Wednesday, 27 September 2023, and between 7am and 5pm on Tuesday, 3 October 2023.

    Police are appealing to the public for any information they might have that could assist with enquiries relating to this incident.

    Police appeals are one of many lines of enquiry that the Police undertake as part of their investigation. Information gathered from such appeals can help to inform the investigation and hopefully bring justice to the victims.

    With the assistance of our community, crimes such as these can then be prevented or where committed the perpetrators can be detected and prosecuted.
