COVID-19 vaccination clinics will be held during the month of September 2023, beginning later this week. Following widespread vaccination and the emergence of new variants, COVID-19 is now able to be treated as one of many upper respiratory viral infections that we find circulating on-Island. However, and as with the flu, the Health Directorate are offering these vaccines as an additional precautionary measure to help manage infections.
To be eligible to receive a first, second or booster dose of the COVID-19 Bivalent vaccine you must:
Be aged 18 years and over
Have not received a COVID-19 vaccination within the past three months

This closure is to allow contractors to continue works on installing a service trench beneath the Haul Road.
The road will therefore remain closed to both vehicles and pedestrians.

The Highways Authority has given approval for Thompson’s Hill Road to be closed from 10am to 3pm on Thursday, 14 September 2023.
This closure is to enable the Forestry Section to remove trees which might pose a risk of falling on the road, therefore the road will be closed to both vehicles and pedestrians.
Appropriate signage will be in place.

Dietitian, Sarah Mattinson, will be holding ‘My Diabetes and Me’ education sessions during September 2023.
These sessions are a chance for people living with Type 2 Diabetes to understand complications of diabetes and get advice for improved blood sugar control through diet, lifestyle and medications.
Those attending daytime sessions will have the opportunity to have a health check (weight, BMI, blood pressure) and receive a healthy eating handbook. For those people who work during the day, there will be the opportunity to attend an evening session, but unfortunately there will be no health check available at these.

The Maria Da Paz is scheduled to arrive at St Helena at 6pm on Saturday, 9 September 2023. The Maria Da Paz will dock alongside Rupert’s Jetty at 6.30am on Sunday, 10 September 2023, and will commence cargo operations.
The public is therefore advised that the Jamestown Wharf and the whole of lower Rupert’s, including the beach area, will be closed to the public from 6am on Sunday, 10 September 2023, and until cargo operations have been completed. These areas will be strictly prohibited and is limited only to those who have made prior arrangements and given authorisation by Port Control.
Boat owners and operators are advised that mooring on the ‘span’ mooring rope near the landing steps at the Jamestown Wharf is prohibited for the duration of cargo operations.

The Forestry Section of the Environment, Natural Resources & Planning Portfolio have seen evidence of unauthorised removal of products from the National Forest Estate, specifically sizable quantities of giant bamboo from Plantation Forest and small to medium trees in Merrimens, Prospect, Willow Bank and The Saddle forests.
The Forestry Section would like to advise the public that under section 14(1) of the Forestry Ordinance, 1954 it is an offence to cut, gather or carry away trees or plants or soil from national, dedicated or protected private forest without permission. Any person found to commit such offence is, on conviction, liable to be fined.
