  • Public Accounts Committee Meeting – Thursday 10 August 2023

    A formal session of the St Helena Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will take place at 9.30am in the Council Chamber on Thursday, 10 August 2023.

    The main programme of business will focus on the Equality & Human Rights Commission’s Financial Statements and Annual Reports 2021/22.

    Members of the public and interested persons are invited to attend.

    The meeting will be broadcast live via SAMS Radio 1.

  • Select Committee 1 Hearing – Wednesday 9 August

    As part of the new form of Ministerial Government introduced in 2021, new Select Committees were also introduced. These committees cover a range of issues related to government business and Portfolios and hold hearings in public.

    In accordance with Standing Order 14, Rule 13, “The Speaker shall appoint the time and place at which the first meeting of the Select Committee is to be held.”

    The Speaker of the House has confirmed that Select Committee 1 will hold the first of these meetings in the Council Chamber, The Castle on Wednesday 9August 2023. The issue under discussion will be “Fisheries – A Cross-Functional Review”.

    The meeting will start at 10am with the proceedings broadcast live on SAMS Radio 1.

  • Governor In Council Meeting – Tuesday, 1 August 2023

    A meeting of Governor in Council will take place on Tuesday, 1 August 2023, at 9am in the Council Chamber, Jamestown, to consider the following development applications:

    • Proposed renovations of HM Prison Workshop for additional cells and conversion of the Pipe Store into a Rehabilitation Area
    • Proposed construction of a Storage Facility near the Combined Building at St Helena Airport.

  • Weather Warning

    Strong winds are forecast across the Island this weekend, with a risk of these bringing some disruption. Winds will be strongest tonight and Saturday morning. They will remain fairly strong Sunday but will ease considerably by Monday afternoon.

    There is a risk of gusts over 50KT on high ground tonight and Saturday morning, especially on exposed south and eastern slopes. Extra care should be taken if out walking or hiking, and it would be advisable to secure any loose items which may blow away, such as wheelie bins. Motorists are also advised to look out for loose debris on roads.

    There is also a risk of heavy rain early Saturday morning. With surfaces already damp from previous rain this week, there is a risk of minor surface water flooding in prone areas. A risk of slight isolated showers for the rest of Saturday, before showers become more frequent with a risk of heavy showers again on Sunday morning.

  • ENRP ASSET LICENCES – REMINDER

    ENRP advises tenants that licences for their agriculture assets for the period 2023-2024 will be available for signing from Monday 10 July to Monday 31 July 2023.

    No licences will be sent out, therefore all tenants must visit the ANRD Office at Scotland to sign their licence. This can be done during any weekday between 9am to 3.30pm.

  • HM Customs Closure

    HM Customs will be closed to the public tomorrow, Tuesday 25 July 2023, following the rescheduled Airlink flight 4Z131. However, operations will continue as normal for the collection of merchant cargo only at the Jamestown wharf from 9am to 3.45pm. Normal business will resume to all customers on Wednesday, 26 July 2023, at 9am.
