    The Environment, Natural Resources and Planning Portfolio (ENRP) would like to advise that further to the Saints Tuna Corporation’s (STC) recent publication in the local Newspapers, the quota allocation for fishing vessel Bonito is 6 metric tonnes and not 26 metric tonnes as published.

  • Closure of Prince Andrew School

    The Education, Skills and Employment Portfolio would like to advise all parents of students attending Prince Andrew School that due to the current low staffing numbers, the school will be closed to students tomorrow Friday, 15 September 2022. 

    We apologise for the short notification and thank parents in advance for their support. It is anticipated that the school will reopen on Tuesday,  20 September as normal.

  • Restricted access to Jamestown Wharf

    The following is a Public Announcement from Port Control:

    The public is advised that the Jamestown Wharf will be closed to all members of the public on Friday, 16 and Saturday,17, September 2022, due to the arrival of the MV Helena and subsequent cargo operations.

    Access to the Jamestown Wharf will be strictly prohibited and is limited only to those who have made prior arrangements with Port Control.

    Boat owners and operators are advised that mooring on the ‘span’ mooring rope near the landing steps at the Jamestown Wharf is prohibited for the duration of cargo operations.

    The public is also advised that the whole of Lower Rupert’s, including the beach area, will be closed to the public whilst the ship is in port.

  • COVID-19 Statistics Update for St Helena

    The St Helena Health Services Directorate, would like to inform the public that a total of 57 positive cases of COVID-19 have been identified on-Island since the lifting of quarantine on Monday, 8, August 2022.

    There have been no hospitalisations at this time. 

    The public is advised to continue to practice good hand and respiratory hygiene and to call the COVID Helpline via tel: 25888 if experiencing symptoms of COVID-19.

    Note to Editors: Figures used within these updates are results from the St Helena Health Directorates testing clinics and those reported to the Health Directorate from individuals testing independently.

  • COVID-19 Testing Clinics – Reminder

    The Health Services Directorate would like to remind the public of the following:

    Persons who are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 are advised to call the COVID-19 Helpline on tel: 25888 to arrange an appointment at one of the testing clinics. Persons will be triaged and, if a COVID-19 test is required, an appointment will be arranged.  

    The appointment process assists recording purposes and is to avoid any unnecessary congestion and delays within the testing clinics.  Persons who arrive at the testing clinic without an appointment will not be tested and will be advised to call the COVID-19 Helpline for an appointment.    

    Parents and carers of children are also reminded that the Health Services Directorate are not testing children under the age of five years old. 

    Persons who have had a COVID-19 test done independently are reminded that if a positive test result is received, to please report this to the Health Services via the COVID-19 Helpline so the Health Services can track and analyse the rate of infection.

  • Processing of UK Visa Applications

    Due to the prioritisation of applications under the Ukraine Visa Scheme coupled with post-COVID recovery, UK Visa & Immigration (UKVI) centres around the world have seen an increase in global travel and visa applications. 

    The public is advised that UK Transit & Visit visas, including standard Visitor visa applications, are currently taking on average seven weeks to process. Some applications might take longer depending on the complexity of applicants’ circumstances.

    The UKVI teams are working hard to process applications to return to the three-week service processing time.  To find out more on processing times for the different types of UK visas, visit: Visa decision waiting times: applications outside the UK – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

    Customers wishing to apply for a UK visa from St Helena should visit: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/st-helena-apply-for-a-uk-visa/apply-for-a-uk-visa-in-st-helena for guidance on how to apply online.

    Processing of British Overseas Territories Citizen (BOTC) and British Citizen (BC) Passports

    The public is advised that processing of passports can take up to 15 weeks, with some complex applications taking longer.  

    Applications will take longer if HM Passport Office need to request more information or documents, or where passport photographs are rejected.  Customers may be asked to attend an interview where necessary. 

    Please also note that at present there are some delays in receiving cargo via Johannesburg due to flights being full to capacity, which will increase the period in which passports are returned.

    You are advised not to book any travel until you have a valid passport. If you need to travel more urgently, you may be able to apply for an Emergency Travel Document (ETD)

  • Cancellation Of Sunday Commercial Waste Collection In Jamestown

    With immediate effect, Waste Management Services will no longer collect commercial waste in Jamestown on a Sunday morning.

    There will be no change to the annual charge for commercial waste collection services as the Sunday collection was free of charge.

    Please note: there will be no impact to the cleaning of public areas and toilets in Jamestown on Sundays as a result of this operational change.

    Customers who may wish to increase their commercial collection during the week or require any other information regarding Waste Management Services are invited to contact Environmental Officer – Risk Management, Terri Clingham, on tel: 24724 or via email: terri.clingham@sainthelena.gov.sh.

  • Staggered Return For Prince Andrew School Students

    Prince Andrew School (PAS) would like to remind parents/guardians of the following staggered starting dates when returning to school for the first week of the new school year, as follows:

    • Years 11, 12 and 13 will return Tuesday, 6 September 2022
    • Year 10 will join Years 11, 12 and 13 on Thursday, 8 September 2022
    • Years 7, 8 and 9 will join at the start of week 2 (commencing Monday, 12 September 2022)

    Prince Andrew School will continue as normal from Monday, 12 September 2022.

  • Email Ordering System for Repeat Prescriptions

    The Health Services Directorate would like to inform the public that the Pharmacy now has an email account for an ordering service within the Pharmacy.  

    The email account will be used for regular repeat prescriptions only and will be in operation with effect from Monday, 12 September 2022.  

    The email will be monitored from Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 9am only. Email orders received after 9am will be processed on the following day.

    To order using the email service:

    1. Email: pharmacy.prescriptions@shg.gov.sh
    2. Enter the name and date of birth of the person requiring medicines, for staff to be able to identify and access the correct patient information
    3. Enter the name and dosage of the medicines required for the order, so that the Pharmacy staff can dispense the correct medicines
    4. If persons would like their repeat prescription medicines to be delivered via the Dispensary Bus, please state this within the email order as well as to which Clinic it should be delivered to.
    5. Please allow at least five working days for all orders to be processed and dispensed. 

    If the email order does not include the correct information required, this could result in delays.

  • Police Appeal For Information- Damage To Public Toilets

    The Royal Saint Helena Police Service is investigating an incident relating to, what appears to be, an act of intentional criminal damage to the male public toilet located near the Museum in Jamestown. Police enquiries suggest that the alleged crime occurred between 6am and 8am on Monday, 22 August 2022.

    The evidence suggests that the perpetrator is a male who entered the public toilet with intent to cause unlawful damage. The toilet bowl was completely and violently dislodged from its water supply and the foundation then smashed to pieces. 

    We would appreciate if anyone with any information relating to this senseless and costly crime could please contact Police Constable, Sebastian Williams, at Police Headquarters on tel: 22626 or via email: sebastian.williams@sainthelena.gov.sh.  Alternatively, you can speak to an Officer of your choice. Any information provided to Police will be treated in the strictest of confidence.
