  • Arrival of the MV Helena

    The MV Helena is scheduled to arrive at St Helena at 2pm on Saturday, 3 September 2022, and will remain at the anchorage in James Bay. The MV Helena will berth alongside the Jetty at Ruperts at 7.30am on Monday, 5 September 2022, and cargo operations will commence thereafter.

    The public is therefore advised that the Jamestown Wharf and the whole of lower Ruperts, including the beach area, will be closed to the public from Monday, 5 September 2022, and until all cargo operations have been completed. These areas will be strictly prohibited and is limited only to those who have made prior arrangements with Port Control.

    Boat owners and operators are advised that mooring on the ‘span’ mooring rope near the landing steps at the Jamestown Wharf is prohibited for the duration of cargo operations.

  • Contact Details For Veterinary And Livestock Emergencies

    The Agriculture & Natural Resources Division (ANRD) would like to advise the public that with immediate effect persons requiring veterinary and livestock assistance after normal working hours should call tel: 26162. During working hours staff can be contacted via the ANRD Reception on tel: 24724.

    ANRD look forward to your cooperation, and would greatly appreciate if persons could refrain from calling staff at home to enquire who is on-call.

  • Constitution Hill Road Closure

    The Highways Authority has given approval for Constitution Hill Road to be closed between 9.30am and 12.30pm on:

    • Tuesday, 6 September 2022
    • Wednesday, 7 September 2022
    • Tuesday, 13 September 2022
    • Wednesday, 14 September 2022
    • Tuesday, 20 September 2022
    • Wednesday, 21 September 2022.

    These closures are to enable the Roads Section to continue with planned maintenance works.

    During these closures, only emergency services will be granted access. Residents within the affected area will also be granted access, but are advised that delays can be expected. Appropriate signage and marshals will be in place.

  • Flu Vaccination Clinic, Friday, 2, September 2022

    The Health Services Directorate would like to inform the public that there will be a Flu Vaccination Clinic at the Jamestown, Community Centre on Friday, 2, September 2022 between 9 am and 12 noon.

    The clinic is open to all persons aged 18+ years who would like to receive a flu vaccination.  

  • Feral Pigeon Monitoring (And Culling) At Horse Point Landfill Site

    The public is advised that feral pigeons may be culled within Horse Point Landfill Site (HPLS) from Monday, 5, to Friday, 9 September 2022 – AM only and will usually end by 9.30am.

    Bi-annually feral pigeon numbers are monitored at HPLS and reported on by the Environmental Management Division as part of their commitment to St Helena Airport Limited (SHAL) Wildlife Hazard Management Plan, which includes mitigating against bird-strike risk to aircraft.

    Feral pigeons congregate to feed on the organic content of waste within the netted domestic waste cell. If culling is necessary to reduce their numbers this is undertaken around the netted cell by an experienced person(s), appropriately licensed by the Environment, Natural Resources & Planning Portfolio, using an air rifle.

    Signage will be in place and the public is reminded that the domestic waste cells area is restricted to authorised persons only, as permanently sign posted within the site.

  • Information for visitors  to the General Hospital

    The Health Services Directorate would like to remind members of the public of the following:

    Visiting hours at the General Hospital has been reduced to the following times: 2pm to 5pm and 6.30pm to 8pm each day. 

    Visitors will be restricted to only two visitors each day. Different visitors will be permitted on subsequent days.

    Persons visiting patients at the General Hospital are asked to please arrive at the testing clinic, situated on the front verandah of the Hospital, approximately 30-45 minutes prior to their visiting time.

    This is to ensure that staff have sufficient time to conduct COVID-19 testing. Testing will take place between 8am and 6pm each day.   

    If a person visits more than once in a day and has provided a negative test result, then they will not be required to be retested for that day.

    Visitors are currently restricted to persons aged 16+ years only.  

    Visitors should bring a mask with them, as masks are required to be worn within the General Hospital during visits.

  • COVID-19 Helpline, Operation Hours

    The Health Services Directorate would like to inform the public that commencing from today, Thursday 25 August 2022, the COVID-19 Helpline will operate during the following times:

    Mondays to Fridays between 8am and 6pm

    Saturdays and Sundays between 8am and 4pm

    Persons who are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 can call the Helpline via tel: 25888 where they will be triaged by operators and an appointment will be arranged if necessary.

  • Immigration Section Closure

    The public is advised that the Immigration Section of the Safety, Security & Home Affairs Portfolio will close for business between 2pm and 4pm on Friday, 26 August 2022. This closure is to allow staff to participate in training.

    Normal business will resume on Tuesday, 30 August 2022.

  • Formal Legislative Council Meeting – Thursday, 25 August 2022

    A formal meeting of Legislative Council will take place tomorrow, Thursday 25 August 2022, at 10am at the Council Chamber. This is the first sitting of the seventh meeting of Legislative Council and will be broadcast live via SAMs Radio 1. This meeting is also open to members of the public who wish to attend.

  • Ladder Hill Road Closure – Wednesday, 31 August 2022

    The Highways Authority has given approval for Ladder Hill Road to be closed on Wednesday, 31 August 2022, between 1.30pm and 3pm. This closure is to enable the Rock Guards to remove a rock on the hill side above Ladder Hill Road.

    During this closure, Shy Road will also be closed to pedestrians and vehicular traffic. Persons wishing to travel in and out of Jamestown during this time must travel across country and via Constitution Hill Road.

    Appropriate signage will be in place and, as normal, only Emergency Services will be granted access.
